Recycle Bin
Once a course wraps up, all associated machines — the Fresh Start, Trainer, and each participant's machine — are taken down shortly after.
We've introduced a feature that lets you retrieve these machines from the 'Recycle Bin' for some time after they've been cleared from the course. How long you can restore machines varies based on several factors like server disk space and course usage, rather than a fixed timeframe. Generally, though, you should be able to recover them for at least a couple of months after the course ends.
For each machine, you can Restore it to its original Course if that course still exists. If not, you can Restore to a Standalone Desktop, or simply Delete it permanently.
You can check the state of your Recycle bin via the Recycle Bin icon. A black icon means restorable machines are inside; a greyed-out icon indicates the bin is empty and nothing can be recovered.
You can also search through the list of machines in the recycle bin by name, server name, or course name.
Restoring or Deleting Machines from the Recycle Bin
- Restore – Use this to return a machine to its original course. If that course has ended, you can't restore it there; instead, you'd restore it as a Standalone machine (see the next option).
- Restore to Standalone Desktop – This is your go-to when a course has concluded and can't accept restored machines. Turning it into a Standalone machine offers greater flexibility, since it will stick around for as long as you need it.
- Delete – Completely remove a machine from the Recycle Bin using 'Delete'. Note: once deleted from the Recycle Bin, the machine can't be recovered.
- Empty Recycle Bin - Clicking the red Empty Recycle Bin button permanently deletes all machines in the bin, so they can't be used again.
